Overview of Egg donation process
One of the most selfless and life-changing contributions a woman can make to others’ lives is donating her eggs. For intended parents, it can be the a fast and most comfortable way to start a family. For donors, it is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in someone else’s life while receiving thoughtful medical care and full support.
Egg Donation steps
At Beta Plus Surrogacy, we believe in making this process clear, safe, and compassionate. Here is what the journey typically looks like, step by step.

It all starts with conversations. Intended parents disclose their expectations, medical needs, and likes — maybe something as specific as the physical appearance, education, or cultural heritage — while potential donors answer questions about their health, lifestyle, and family health history.
After that, we proceed to look for the most suitable match. This is not just about science; it’s about creating the right connection between the intended parents and the donor, built on trust and mutual respect.
Donors undergo thorough medical testing to ensure they are in good health and that their eggs are likely to result in a successful pregnancy. This typically includes:
- Blood tests for hormone levels and overall health
- Genetic screening for hereditary conditions – if the intended parents ask for it.
- Infectious disease testing
- Ultrasound to evaluate ovarian health
- Additionally, the donor undergoes breast and thyroid ultrasound examinations
These screenings protect both the donor and the future child, ensuring the highest standard of safety.
Before any medical procedures take place, legal contracts are created to protect both the donor and the intended parents. These agreements clearly define:
- Parental rights of the intended parents
- The donor’s responsibilities and rights
- Compensation details (if applicable)
- Privacy and confidentiality terms
This step ensures peace of mind for every party involved.
Upon completion of the legal contracts, the donor starts a course of fertility medication for a brief period to stimulate the ovaries. They trigger the production of more than one egg in a cycle, instead of the single egg that ovulates each month.
Throughout this process, donors are carefully monitored via blood tests and ultrasounds to monitor their progress. The medical team is on hand daily to guide and comfort the donors at all times.
When the eggs are ready, the donor undergoes a minor outpatient procedure to collect them. The procedure usually takes 15–30 minutes and is performed under IV sedation, so donors feel no pain.
Most donors are able to return to their normal routines within a day or two, though rest is encouraged immediately after retrieval. The eggs are then immediately passed to the embryology team for fertilization.
The donated eggs are fertilized with sperm from either the intended parent or a donor. Embryologists carefully monitor their development over several days to create healthy embryos.
Depending on the intended parents’ plan, embryos may be transferred fresh into the uterus of the intended mother or surrogate, or frozen for future use. Genetic testing may also be performed to ensure only the healthiest embryos are used.
Donors receive medical follow-up to ensure full recovery and continued well-being. Intended parents receive regular updates about embryo development and transfer. Both parties are offered emotional support, counseling, and ongoing guidance as needed.

A Gift Beyond Measurea

Egg donation is more than a medical process — it is an act of kindness, love, and humanity. It allows individuals and couples who cannot conceive with their own eggs to experience the joy of parenthood. For donors, it is an extraordinary way to give the gift of life, with the assurance of care, respect, and gratitude at every step.
At Beta Plus Surrogacy, we are honored to walk alongside both donors and intended parents on this journey, making sure it is safe, transparent, and filled with compassion.
